LEGO 2016 Advent Calendar Review, Part One

Hello everyone,

Over the coming days I am going to be reviewing three of LEGO's advent calendars for this year. The LEGO Star Wars calendar, the LEGO City calendar, and the small giveaway calendar that they had as a promotional item a few weeks back. I am going to start with the latter one; the free with purchase calendar.

The set number for this this advent calendar is 40222, and it contains 250 pieces. There are no minifigures in this set.

This set is a little different than the other advent calendars in that you do not open a door each day to reveal the mini-build behind it, but rather you reconstruct the set everyday into something different. Therefore, you cannot build all 24 models at once.

Let's start with taking a look at the front and the back of the box:

The contents of the box:

Day one:

Day two:

Day three:

Day four:

Day five:

Day six:

Day seven:

Day eight:

Day nine:

Day ten:

Day eleven:

Day twelve:

Day thirteen:

Day fourteen:

Day fifteen:

Day sixteen:

Day seventeen:

Day eighteen:

Day nineteen:

Day twenty:

Day twenty one:

Day twenty two:

Day twenty three:

Day twenty four:

I would give this set four and a half out of five. Considering this set was a free with purchase item, it isn't bad. At 250 pieces, it's pretty generous. I will say however that some of the designs are a little questionable! I have no idea whether day four is meant to be a dog or some other poor deformed animal, but it's pretty bad! Day ten is just as ambiguous, and as for eighteen, your guess is as good as mine! I think the cat, the two little birds, the second, larger castle, and the dragon are my favourites of the set.

Have a great day everyone,

Dan.
