TMNT Mega Construx Review, Part Fourteen - The Nick Series Continued

Hello everyone,

In this report I will be continuing my ongoing review of the TMNT 2012 TV series line from Mega Construx (formerly Mega Bloks).

The first set I'll look at today is Donnie Mouser Attack. The set contains 46 pieces, including one minifigure, and is set number DXY12.

I would give this set three and a half out of five. Over all, it isn't a bad set, but it isn't the most exciting set, either. It is good to actually have Donnie feature in a set specifically for him, that includes a computer and other lab items, as he so often gets left out of all the TMNT toys (not just Mega Construx).

The next set is Leo Turtle Glider Pursuit, which is set number DXY15, and contains 130 pieces, including two minifigures.

I would give this set four out of five. It's cool to finally have 2012 Bebop in the range - it took long enough! The glider and the bike are neat vehicles, and the little street scene adds to the set nicely. I like that the glider throws pizza out of it, and Leo has a twist action.

The next set is Mikey Kitchen Chaos, which is set number DXY13, and contains 50 pieces, including one minifigure.

I would give this set four and a half out of five, almost purely for the fact that it has Ice Cream Kitty in it! It's a fun, light hearted set, which features a character (ICK) that is popular with fans.

Next up, we have the Ninja Booster Pack, which is set number DYT38, and contains 150 pieces, including one minifigure.

The minifigure(s) (see description, below):

I would give this set three and a half out of five. It's an interesting idea for a set, I'll give it that. To be able to switch out the masks to make each of the four turtles is useful (complete with weapons for each turtle, too), I suppose, and you do get a water vehicle included. I don't really think there was a need for all the extra pieces though. I know the idea is to adapt them into the rest of the range, and be creative, but with the pieces they included, you'll only have limited success with that anyway.

The next set is Raph Dimension X Battle, which is set number DXY14, and contains 81 pieces, including three minifigures.

I would give this set four out of five. I think it's a really fun idea to have a set with two of the turtles' other two core adversaries in one set. It would have been nice to perhaps have a Triceraton vehicle, since the range has a little more (though not much more) Kraang stuff already, but we can't have it all, I suppose.

Next we come to series 4 of the blind bag mystery figures.

The figures from the back:

I feel that of the four blind bag series so far, this is one of the weakest. Series four had a Triceraton, a Kraang in the Bishop suit, April and Leatherhead - so this series is a real step back, I feel. Nonetheless, Tiger Claw and Karai are cool, and I am glad to have them included here.

Finally, we come to the last product(s) for this review, which are minifigure bags from Toys R Us which contain four clear turtles.

For what it's worth, I would give these three out of five. I guess what we're seeing here is a variation on a theme. We've had clear turtles in the main blind bag line, so there isn't too much I can say!

Have a great day everyone,

Dan.
