Disney LEGO Minifigures Review

Hello everyone,

On May 1st LEGO are releasing a brand new line of their mystery bag minifigures, this time based around popular Disney characters. This is not the first time LEGO have worked with Disney, with LEGO previously and currently having ranges that include(d) Disney Princesses, Toy Story, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lone Ranger, The Prince of Persia, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First, Star Wars and Marvel, plus numerous more.

There are 18 different figures in new mystery bags. Although they have not been officially released yet, some stores such as Target and Walmart are selling them already, though in limited locations and quantities. We were lucky enough to stumble across a Walmart today that had just put a brand new case of them out a couple of hours before, and so we snapped them up in the hopes of getting all 18.

First of all, here's the tray that they come in at the stores:

The front of the bag:

Inside the bags there is a leaflet that displays the whole collection, and how to construct the minifigures.

As well as the front and the back of the character, I am going to show each figure in its deconstructed stage, as I know that avid collectors like us like to know which pieces to feel the bags for when trying to collect the ones you need. Knowing the shapes of the pieces has been a huge help for us in the past when collecting LEGO's other minifigure lines, so I hope this will be useful to people who read this, too. After you've seen all the character photos, I am going to put my thoughts.

Mickey Mouse:

Minnie Mouse:

Donald Duck:

Daisy Duck:

Stitch:

Peter Pan:

Captain Hook:

Alice (I forgot to detach her head for some reason for this photo - it does come detached!):

Cheshire Cat:

Aladdin:

Genie:

Maleficent:

Ariel:

Ursula:

Buzz Lightyear:

Little Green Alien:

Mr Incredible:

Syndrome:

My favourite characters are Stitch, Maleficent, Peter Pan, Aladdin and Ursula. Most of the rest are really cool, and I don't especially dislike any of them, except the Little Green Alien and Mr Incredible. I think the fact that LEGO previously had a Toy Story range defeats the purpose of having another one of these characters (along with Buzz Lightyear, but at least he looks pretty neat), and as for Mr Incredible, I am just personally not too keen on him.

There are some other oddities and slight criticisms that I want to point out. First of all, Minnie Mouse is about the size equivalent of a basketball player. She is much taller than most other characters, including Mickey, whom she is really supposed to be shorter than. The reason for this is that the dress they give her clips on between her legs and torso, which bumps up her height significantly.

Mickey doesn't come with any accessories, and neither do the Green Alien or Stitch, and with only having legs, a head and a torso, they are the least value for money figures in the entire set (although, I would personally argue that Stitch is super cute, and worth it anyway!).

Genie I feel is a strange one. While I mostly like him, I think his head is strange, and given the other awesome moulded pieces that are in this set (such as Ursula's tentacles, Hook's hat/hair, etc), there was no reason that I can see that they couldn't have done the same for Genie. Instead, he looks like he is waring a custom-fit bicycle helmet. It just looks really odd.

Have a great weekend everyone,

Dan.
